How can I buy a car without my mom?

I need a car, I'm going to be a senior in high school and we only have one vehicle. My mom goes to work so I can't use hers, and I get out of school an hour before everyone else because I've finished all my credits, plus I work and half the time my mom makes my boyfriend pick me up. The problem is, she won't get a loan so I can finance the car. It would be in her name but I would make the payments. I mean the car I want is only 5k dollars, but I don't have that much to go pay cash for it. I'm out of options and my mother is useless in this situation, its so frustrating. If I don't get a car soon I will have to quit my job, and I can't let that happen. Any advice?

When you turn 18, you will need some one to co-sign. You cannot enter into a contract until then, sorry.

This may not be what you want to hear, but it's the correct answer.

I got my first car loan when I was 18, and my uncle was the co-signer. I didn't have any type of credit cards so I had virtually no credit and could only get a loan with a co-signer. That loan was $4,000. It would also really help if you had SOME money for a down payment. You could save up some money until you turn 18? I go to a credit union so my payments were only $98 a month. If you can find a relative with awesome credit and knows they can trust you, that would be your best bet. ONLY find a co-signer if you really do have a job and can make these payments, otherwise you'll be burning bridges with people if you can't. Good luck!

Your situation is typical but not hopeless. You parents must support this purchase or it's not going to happen. But you do currently have transportation arrangements. You are working so you can save money. You can find a car for less than $5000.

So if mom won't get a loan maybe if you meet her half way. Show her that you have a few thousand saved ask her to match it or let you pay her back a little at a time. Talk with her in a mature way, she'll come around eventually.

If you are 18, and you hold a job then you can obtain your own car loan, provided you have something for collateral. If you have no credit, then you might be in bad shape. Best thing you can do is save up to buy a cheaper car with cash so you can get around for a while. At least you will keep your job, but you'll have to sacrifice the cooler car. Welcome to adulthood. Only responsibility follows. If you are really wanted that nice car, then check out http://www.drivetime.com/, or get a credit card. WARNING: credit cards will ruin your credit. Nice little catch 22. Good luck.

sorry but there is nothing you can do until you are 18 but you might try going with a cheaper point a to b car that you can save for until you are able to do better. your mom might even go a small loan with you for around a 1000 bucks. talk to her unless you are driving excessive miles to school and work an old 500 to 1000 beater would provide transportation until you can are 18 and can get your own loan and when this time comes you can also use the old beater car as partial down payment.

You can't sign a contract until you turn 18, so no loans for you!

Get you self a bank account and save every penny and buy a decent used car for now.

If you have the money and are 18 years old, finance it under your name.
