I'm getting my License soon (in March of this year), and my brother already has his (he's in college). We're looking for cars this upcoming week so we can have a decision made by the time I get my license. One of the top competetors is a 2004 Saturn VUE. It gets pretty good gas mileage and it's definitely a good car.

The only problem is that it's not in production anymore. That said, can we get it maintenanced at a GM Dealer, or would we have to get the parts through the mail and then go to the dealer? Would it make a good first car for me and my brother?

The Vue is a great first car. It offers a nice design, a roomy interior, is fuel efficient (avg. 24mpg hwy) and is safe. You want to make sure the previous owner(s) took care of the vehicle and it had regular maintenance. Make sure you get a vehicle history report (i.e. CarFax) on the vehicle. Any reputable dealer will be able to offer this, if they cannot, I would be leery of purchase.

You may want to check out the GM Certified Pre-Owned website. All of their vehicles are put through a 172-point inspection process and are backed by both a Bumper-to-Bumper and Powertrain Limited Warranty.

As for your concern with maintenance, most GM Dealers offer service for Saturn vehicles. If you would like to email me (socialmedia@gm.com), I can offer dealers in your area.

I hope this information is helpful

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

That year Saturn is unreliable, sadly the car will not likely last past 120,000 miles. If you can find a newer one, 06 and above I would go for that, they are good little SUV's.
