Question:
My dad won't buy me a nice car?
anonymous

Okay so I've had my license for about 4 months now. My dad gave me his used car for me to drive. I have already clocked in 7000 miles on the car since I first got it. It only has around 305 horsepower. At first it felt powerful and I loved it. But now it feels weaker than a poor kid with ebola and HIV starving in Africa.

I've been looking into different cars. So far I want either the F80 '16 BMW M3 or the W205 2016 C63 S AMG (used). My dad told me I would need to wait several more months before he would buy me a nice car. I told him I'm ready and I really want a nice car. But he won't budge.

I know these cars are over 80k fully optioned, but I think my dad is being such an a$$ for not at least letting me lease one of these cars. I even offered to pay half of the 80k+ since i've been saving up some of my allowance for the past 11 months.

If this isn't a joke then the world is far worse than I thought it was; I've driven a 40 ton truck with less power than your present car. There are people in your country & mine who have to survive on hand outs & charity and you are whinging because your father won't let you have an 80 grand car! The sense of entitlement displayed in your question exemplifies what's wrong with society today, the, "I want it and I want it now" attitude that cannot comprehend a world where you can't have what you want. You have been driving for four month, like most kids you think you're Gods gift to the world of motoring and have enough experience to handle a 180mph car. With luck, if your father is stupid enough to give in to you, you won't kill another road user but will hopefully be banned from driving, at least until you grow up.

If your Dad is willing to buy you a brand new car at all I wouldn't complain or be picky about it. Also, something those of us who have fallen on hard times know to be a very sound rule; no matter your resources, buy what you need and not what you want per se. Not only is 300+ HP very good it is unnecessary in most cases unless you're driving a very heavy vehicle meant for towing and the like. It sounds to me like you're talking about a sports car. In that case you should know that performance oriented vehicles are a luxury, they are often not what any of us need except to satisfy the impulse to race, go fast or faster than other drivers. That's perfectly fine when it's within your means, it is not fair to ask for such a thing when a brand new vehicle is being gifted to you.

If I were you, as a college student, I'd be mostly concerned about fuel economy and driving with minimal effort. Have you looked at the Focus or Fiesta with the 1.0L ecoboost? Granted there is still much to be learned about the long term service of this engine but so far all indications are good. Either vehicle would allow you to haul around friends as well as larger items via hatchback versions. They would save you a lot of money on gas and save you many headaches on the road as they are nimble, forgiving and pleasant to drive. I realize that these rather practical vehicles do not have the pizzazz of a european luxury car but a car, frankly, is a tool. Logic would dictate you never treat it as more than that but especially so if said car is being gifted to you.

305 HP is not enough for someone who has had there license not even half a year?

You've gone 4 whole months without an accident so you feel as though your father should buy you a brand new vehicle? Expensive ones at that!!

What you should have is a used car that puts out less than 200HP as someone with little experience has no need or right to begin to race, as noone with 305 HP is going to take it easy, especially a teenager.

My parents first bought me a 99 Grand am that had 170HP. I got my license and before that, it was falling apart. Transmission was going, cat was shot, over heated, and more. I then got a job and had $1500 for a down payment so they went and they got me a 2011 Malibu for $14k. I am making every payment for it along with gas and the moment I quit my job or get fired or star abusing it, they said they are taking it away from me, and keeping it for themselves making the payment. Might I add that wont happen because I am responsible and won't abuse it or quit my job. I should also note it gives off quite the ride for 14K, has 56k KM on it and is reasonably fast for a 4 banger, and is amazing on gas.

Good Lord, I sincerely hope this is a joke. If not, let me break it down for you -

Stop being an entitled prick. Mommy and Daddy do not owe you an 80k car. They already pay for your tuition and give you a 5k a month allowance???? That is more than I could ever, ever ask or hope of my parents. Wanna know why? Because most people can't even afford their rent. Get an actual job like everybody else, buy your own damn car NOT with your allowance money (which still comes from your parents, so shouldn't be counted in that "40k you will have"), STOP MAKING FUN OF POOR CHILDREN IN AFRICA YOU @#$!!!!!!, and get a dose of reality.

People like you are exactly what is wrong with the world. I have never been more sincere about anything in my life.

Go jump off a bridge.

Auto finance is what I do for a living and there are 10 things that go into making up a car deal weather it's a purchase or a lease and all can effect the interest rate.

1. Term of loan. Shorter the better.

2. Age of vehicle. Newer the better.

3. Miles on vehicle. Lower the better.

4. Amount to finance compared to book value. Lower the better.

5. Credit score. Higher the better.

6. Credit profile. Deeper the better.

7. Down payment. More the better.

8. Monthly income. Higher the better.

9. Time on job. Longer the better.

10. Time at residence. Longer the better.

As long as all of the above are in line with the lender guide lines and you make enough income to budget for the payment you should be approved. As you can see from the above list there are way to many things that go into making up a car deal to guess at your interest rate.

Just so you will know this is a breakdown of F.I.C.O. scores used by one of the largest credit unions in my State.

FICO system scores from 300-850.

Elite-740-& up

Prime-700-739

Preferred-660-699

Standard-625-659

Sub-prime-624-& under

There are lenders that have first time buyer programs, they require a minimum of 12-months or your job, a monthly income of at least $1,600.00, a down payment of at least $1,000.00 or 10% of the price of the vehicle and a maximum amount financed of $10,000.00. if you don't meet these requirements or the vehicle you have chosen cost more then this you will have to have a good qualified co-signer to get the loan.

As others have said, your a spoiled brat and should be thankful for the vehicle you have not wanting a vehicle that most people never can get.

Good luck and I hope this helped.

Honestly I was the same way when I first got my license. I thought I knew what I was doing and wanted the best car possible. I wanted a Chrysler 300, a bmw or a lincoln. I have a 2006 saab and couldn't be happier, you know why? Because my father paid $7,500 for my Saab because it's SAFE. For your first car don't look at the brand name or the amount. Your father is obviously a hard working man and doesn't need to buy YOU a brand new car. Don't be so selfish. If anything he should buy himself a brand new car.

Nice troll.

Anyone who knows anything about money knows that a vehicle like that is a total waste of money.

It will be worth a couple grand in a few years and you will have nothing other than a money pit that is expensive to insure and maintain.

Luxury/performance cars are toys of the rich - status symbols. If you pull in a cool $40,000 a month and can throw away a pile of cash on a depreciating asset, go ahead and buy one, if not, walk away.

It is the same as buying a nice house infested with termites. After a few years all you have left is a pile of expensive trash.

STFU & stop whining like an Entitled Brat. Be grateful for what you have & realize there are people out there who don't even make 80 over 5yrs. Who work 15yrs a day, ride the bus & are a single parent still struggling to put food on the table. 5 a month? I live off that in 5mths. I'm disabled & forced into poverty. Learn how to work for what you get. It's not handed to you on a silver platter. Smh

If I were your dad I would take the car you have from you and make you buy your own car with your own money and not the allowance you got because that's really not your money. You really don't know how good you have it and rich spoiled brats like you only fail at life or mooch off their parents their whole life. Grow the **** up

My Dad bought me some very nice cars. They sat on a shelf in my bedroom.

For a real car, big enough that I could fit in, and road legal, I had to borrow my Mum's or buy it with my own money, earned from working (not from an allowance). After many years of working I have a lovely 2010 diesel Hyundai - it may not be an 80k BMW but it is mine, not owned by a lease company and paid for by someone else (and unlike an 80k BMW it does fit in my garage).

Count your lucky stars you don't have to work for a car, and stop your whingeing.

Just remember that a car is a liability, not an asset.

Assets increase in value. It is very rare for a car to increase in value. If you buy new cars you lose a lot of value even faster. It is better to buy a good used car and save your money to buy a house or a block of land. Start saving when you are young, don't leave it until later.

What's your question, kid? You want us to talk to your dad for you? You want us to tell you how to spend $80K?

It's amazing how a kid who has only been driving 4 months thinks he has the experience and skill to drive a powerful fast car. I don't want to bust your bubble, but you only have about 10% of the skills you need to be a good driver and to able to handle a powerful car, especially in emergency situations. Get plenty of insurance because you'll need it. That $80K car will be crashed within a year or so.

2015-11-15 20:50:15 UTC
You joking? You've only had your license for 4 months. Nobody in their right mind is going to give you a new car. Two reasons: 1. You'll probably crash at some point. 2. you already have a car you dumb sh** kid, don't be so spoiled. I'm 29 and I just bought a used car for the first time because the one my parents gave me finally died. Boohoo you have to spend all your money on groceries. Welcome to life. If you want a car, start saving.

2015-11-13 10:39:12 UTC
Your dad sounds a bit generous. My dad wouldn't spend an extra $400 to put me in something with powerful and safer than the lawnmower car he bought for me. The car wasn't even $2000. I was always left stranded somewhere in it, could barely get over the hill into the city, and other cars were about running over top of me. My mother even sideswiped a bunch of cars alongside the road in it and kept going. Neither parent bothered fixing the damage.

2015-11-13 14:17:30 UTC
Hardly surprising, since two year olds shouldn't be allowed on the road, and you sound pretty much like a two year old throwing a tantrum.

If I was your dad I'd throw you in the street on your ear and let you discover real life for yourself the hard way, you greedy, ungrateful, spoilt, whiny little brat. You do not "deserve" anything from your dad. If you want a fancy car get a job and earn the money for it.

Sorry, I'm too busy trying to keep orphans from starving to death in Honduras to waste time worrying about how unfair it is your spoiled rich butt has to make do with a used luxury car instead of a new one.

If the world was fair, all 6 billion of us one have one shoe and a piece of cardboard to live under.

Grow up and get over it. And instead of a new BMW, why don't you take some of that 40K you have saved, and come to Tegucigalpa with me and do something to help the less fortunate?

Please tell me you are joking. If not, you are spoiled douchebag. A 80k+ car right after you got your license, r u on drugs? I'm not poor or anything and I would be more then happy if my parents bought me a car that even runs. And the fact that u have saved up aprox 40k from allowance....like 90% of people don't even get allowance. If you want a "nice" car so badly, get yourself a damn job and stop having your dad spoil you. How do you expect to go anywhere in life?

Quit bitching like a spoilt brat and be grateful your dad got you any car. Going by the number of young male drivers in car accidents your dad has done the right thing getting you something less powerful. Also the cost of insurance for high powered cars with young male drivers goes through the roof. The world doesnt owe you a favour. If you want nice things you need to get out there, get a deccent job and save up like the rest of the world.

You car sounds like it it pretty nice. I would've loved to have a nice newer car with low mileage as my first. You think 305 HP is slow? 305HP is more than enough to get going and then some more.Try driving an underpowered 4-cylinder car that does NOT have a turbo or anything to make it faster.

2015-11-13 11:20:11 UTC
The harsh reality is that you'll have to do like the rest of us and make do until you can afford what you want, the fact that you were lucky enough to be given a car by your dad is something you should be grateful for, but no doubt you are a spoilt brat who thinks that the world owes you everything, most people reading your winey question are probably like my self and didn't even have a car until they could afford to pay for it themselves, I teach my kids "grateful not greedy", something which you should maybe consider.

I have been driving for one year as of spetember, I drive a beater sedan, you much shorter, every chance i get i race around, I bet you do the same. Stick with the car you have for a while. Odds of a new driver with a expensive car will equal in a wreck. BE GRATEFUL he gave you what you drive now. I bought my own car, it was not GIVEN to me. The world does not revolve around anyone's "needs or wants". If you earned the money good for you but if you didn't you sound a little spoiled

The only way you will truly appreciate a car, new or used, is if you have to EARN IT YOURSELF. I do not mean using your allowance either. Get a real job, even if it is just flipping burgers at McDs. You are lucky to have parents that can afford to send you to college. Many students graduated with loans that will take many years to pay off. Grow up and stand on your own 2feet, not your parents shadow.first car should be a safe older model, capable of allowing you to survive a crash. I fear you are heading in the direction of removing yourself from the gene pool. Maybe the world would be better off too.

your dad DOES NOT owe you any car, let alone a "nice" one. He owes you (until age 18) a safe place to live, a meal in your stomach, clothes on your back, and medical care What do all the kids do who's fathers CAN NOT AFFORD any car even for themselves ? They go out and WORK FOR IT. Get off your duff and stop expecting that you are in any way ENTITLED.

If you can handle the insurance and the registration, as well as if you can maintain the car, maybe he should buy you the car.

The problem is, since you said you have been driving for 4 months now, you are not a well experienced driver. For people like you, you guys need used cars. Once you have the experience, you can buy a new car.

The chairman of Pontiac Motor Division gave his son a brand new GTO for graduation. The hitch was the kid had to put the whole car together. I gave my son a car that had been my car. I showed him how to change a head gasket and how to change a transmission, and then he had a good car to drive to work and out with his friends. He was happy. I helped him with tune ups. I ve got his appreciation. I m not rich, but I m luckier than your dad who has a son who there s not a lot to brag about.

Just be sure you have adequate insurance.

1.Car insurance to pay for the damage you do as an inexperienced driver in a performance vehicle.

2.Coverage for Dads assets like a home or buisness as he will be sued for giving you the car.

3.Long term rehab care insurance, because if you hit me, you're going to need a lot of physical therapy.

you get 40k in allowance? leasing a car is not a good decision most of the time. you end up paying more than the car is worth a lot of the time, then you dont even get to keep it. listen, the fact that he even lets you drive a car is better than a lot of kids have it, and he probably doesnt like the fact that you seem to really want him to spend that much money on a car. if i were you, i would not bug him about it, because its his money, and the more you bug him, the more he is going to think you are too entitled or spoiled. im literally sure that is exactly what he is thinking. it doesnt matter how much money someone has, when you let them know that you expect them to buy things for them when they think they shouldnt need to, theyre not going to give you what you want just because you keep asking. in fact it will definitely decrease your chances dramatically. i would just lay low, be a good son, and hope he buys you your own car

2015-11-13 15:09:14 UTC
If I was your Dad, I would not let you drive one of my cars since you do not appreciate or respect them. You would have to get a job and save to buy one. Also since you have a bad attitude I would be tempted to contact the DMV and rquet they suspend your driving Privlidges.

You have to learn to shutup and be grateful. I'm 18 years old and I have yet to get a car. & I love my paretns for not spoiling me like you are because they have tought me to be grateful and independent and I have learned to work for myself and work hard to get the things I want because later on in life when you move out your parents are not gonna be paying your bills and doing your laundry, if they are, they are horrible parents.

cars are expensive and a lot of work and responsibility money in that gas and part changing guzzler. no one own a fancy car the first time nothing but functionality so realistically "nice" cars come way later go earn that fancy car and prove to your father you deserve his help that you deserve and can handle that car earn it.

My dad won't buy me a nice car? Antichrist's Third Temple will have 8 chambers: a chamber per main religion; antichrist will be crowned in this temple; during crowning, he won't read the "belief prayer" correctly (rejecting Christ and acknowledging himself); when he will take his gloves off to make sign of the cross incorrectly (just for show), many people will see his big nails and will reject him; Patriarch (who will be crowning him) will say that this is the antichrist; antichrist will kill him. Also, antichrist will kill those priests who disagree with him at the 8th "wolf" Council; others will worship him when a bird dies at his feet. Roman Catholics, Satanists, and Buddhists use the same mudras; if you see these mudras on an icon, then it's not Orthodox icon; Orthodox icon has IC XC symbol (Jesus Christ). Roman Catholics pay drunks and prostitutes to pose for icons; passions of drunks and prostitutes transfer to those who pray to these images. Normal Orthodox icons are inspired by the Holy Spirit. Gaad in Ruski = Satan; hence, Americans = blasphemers because they always say: "Oh, my god!". Santa (word for Saint in Satanic languages) = Satan; hence, Spanish + Italian + Portuguese = blasphemers. Anathema to Satanic languages; triple anathema. Learn Church Slavonic; no curses in it; curses = prayer to Satan. All religions except Orthodoxy worship Satan. On bread for communion: IC XC NIKA (Jesus Christ Conquers) plus cross = Orthodox; hexagram plus Dusha Maya = antichrist. Jews and Muslims pray head down (either standing, bowing, or kneeling); this is Satanic prayer. Orthodox look into the eyes of icon; energy goes their way; they get healed; head and shoulders come together to reject Satan slowly and then fast to normal showing allegiance to Christ and not the devil. Hands cannot be on groin or behind back; either put them crossing each other on chest (right over left) or just by your sides. Legs together so that a demon doesn't run underneath your legs. Clergy who will not "put Buddhist icons and serve antichrist's blood" will be killed; only 7 churches will be left as Pelageya of Ryazan predicted. In 2006 and at other meetings, fake patriarchs and bishops signed a bunch of documents betraying Orthodoxy by saying that all religions worship the same Supreme Being; triple anathema; don't let heretics tell you what to do. America will be last country to switch to Euro. Three big earthquakes will shake the three superpowers; 1st big earthquake in Russia; 2nd (bigger one) in China; 3rd (biggest of the three) will be in America. NATO will nuke Ukraine to blame Russia for it; then NATO will nuke Russia from Scandinavia. China will attack Russia; but will not get past Ural Mountains; bio-genetic weapon will be used against Chinese soldiers (they will run back to China and hide in closets in fear) and weather weapon will freeze Siberia to - 200 Celcius; stadium-size chunks of unmeltable ice will fall from the lower sky (because when rockets go into higher sky they bring this ice down to lower sky). Russia will destroy Turkey and America. China will have a hole across the whole country to the abyss (because of another super weapon used to stop Chinese aggression); radiation from this hole will be massive; Chinese will try to keep quiet about it; a lot of people will fall into this hole.

Scientists don't see dinosaurs because of radiation. Only Eurasia and Alaska (both without coasts) will remain after demons blow up Antarctica (which surrounds the flat earth) and Greenland melts. Move to Ural Mountains or inland Alaska. Sionists wanted war between Russia and Germany from June 11th to October 11th on their holidays because (666 times 3)+(6 times 3) = 2016 (in their twisted logic).

Tube people = demons. Clones = demons. Human costumes that demons wear = demons. Dinosaurs and 666ed people have triple stranded DNA; normal person can't swallow 666ed food (designed for 666ed people). Demons live inside clones. Bacteriologist Alexandre Yersin (who discovered Bubonic plague) is depicted on the Shroud of Turin. There is another shroud (Shroud of Milan) on which blasphemer Yosef (who was crucified on a pole in 1066 AD) is depicted. Menachem Mendel Schneerson, Lenin (el=deity in Hebrew, nine = no in German; so, when chanted repeatedly is blasphemy against the Creator), and Yosef were possessed by Azazel; now, Rico Cortes is possessed by Azazel.

WW3 happens; 7% of people will be left; after people are tired of war, they will elect the antichrist as one world leader; don't vote. ISIS stands for Israeli Secret Intelligence Service. Next false flag: Statue of Liberty in order to attack Iran; one big shake, one giant step forward, one giant collapse. Move away from coasts as nukes will go off in the ocean (at where tectonic plates meet; result: megatsunamis 1km high).

Wear natural clothing so that if a bomb goes off it won't stick to the body as fast as synthetic clothes. All metal will be burned for fuel; so, save knives, crowbars, shovels, wood-burning stoves, etc. Also, save cloth/fabric/textile to cover the wounds and diseases.

Eat natural food because nanochips, cells of aborted fetuses, bug DNA, and other poisons are in food that is commonly sold; reject vaccines, medical care, medicine, etc. because nanochips are administered thru IVs, implants, fillings, etc. If 1000-1500 nanochips are in your right hand, then you can't make proper Orthodox sign of the cross with the right hand; last mercy for you then will be to cut the hand off.

Seraphim of Sarov and Sergiy of Radonezh will be resurrected after WW3 for a short time; Seraphim of Sarov will show the new Ruski Tsar who will fight the antichrist for about 2 years and 8 months. Those who go see Seraphim of Sarov will be healed of their infirmities/illnesses/sicknesses/ diseases; if you want to see him then, hurry because he won't stay longer than a few weeks.

Earth is flat; stands on 3 pillars (the Most Holy Trinity); pillars stand on water at zero Kelvin. Zodiac is planetary prison of demons; don't believe in horoscopes or you'll exhibit the traits of the trapped demons. Most thoughts and dreams are from demons; demons never do good. Sleep fully clothed; pray the Jesus prayer. Pray to your guardian angel to have normal sleep.

Humans were created about 7525 years ago. Ruski Orthodox Christian Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov was the last prophet before Enoch and Elijah return to preach against the antichrist.

Birds participate in time creation. It's a sin to kill birds. Dinosaurs live under our level. They will get out through sinkholes and lakes. To kill them, go for their nerves. Save the birds; but kill the dinosaurs. First dinosaur will come out of Volga River in Russia.

Demons grow human skin (from a sample taken during abduction) and put it on so as to look like us. Demons will invite people to be healed inside their UFOs; those who go will be like zombies after. Gov't provides demons with diamonds and allows demons to abduct people. If you're being abducted, slowly pray the Jesus prayer.

Don't panic. Demons use diamonds and souls to power their UFO craft. The bigger the diamond, the more it lasts. Demons have 4 UFO bases: 1)Moon 2)Inside fake mountain Kailash in Tibet 3)In lake Baikal in Russia 4)In Atlantis which is underneath the Mariana Trench in Pacific Ocean. There are no aliens. Nobody lives on other planets.

Airplanes that go down are hit by demons because they need the airspace to fight Jesus. Antichrist is pale with red eyes. He's possessed by Satan since he's 12 years old. He flies very fast; deceived people will say that "Christ is here; Christ is there". Sometimes, he wears blue robe over left shoulder while red robe is underneath. He wears gloves to hide long nails. He's surrounded by demons who appear as angels of light. Antichrist will trick people to believe that he can do mountain moving and resurrection (using holograms); fire from the sky is easy (considering the gases from pollution in the atmosphere).

Don't go into a UFO to be healed by demons. Green 666 is given by isotope rays on wrist or forehead when people stretch hands to receive small plastic grey card with no name on it (World Passport). Police will microchip and isotope ray people on the highways. Microchipped people will be influenced by computers to take grey plastic card; but when they do, 666 is given. Food stores will isotope ray people too. Antichrist will also release prisoners to mark people. Reject 666 at all cost because it leads to permanent hell.

If you're about to be marked, pray the Jesus prayer. Hide with Orthodox Christians to escape 666; leave all electronics behind so that antichrist's minions can't track you. Give to charity in the name of Archangel Michael; he rescues people from temporary hell twice a year (or brings them up a level, that is, to a level with less punishment; eventually, people are freed). Feed the pigeons; when pigeons bow down, people are saved from temporary hell. Forgive me.
