Simple, AWD means more grip in most situations. It means that you can make better use of your motors power by putting more of it to the ground without spinning the wheels all day long. When it comes to handling, instead of having only the rear tires pushing you around the corner(RWD), you now also have the front tires pulling you through the corner. Its the best of both worlds FWD grip with RWD muscle.

AWD is a road handling package that makes the car corner and handle better. It makes the rear of the car less apt to break out. The most common use for all wheel drive is inclimate weather and where I live I do not see to many Porsche's running around in the winter. AWD was an option by the way, not all have it.

Most Sports car have rwd... but that means so much power to rear wheels and that means power-over, or oversteer in corners.. But Porsche Traditional awd keeps the cornering tidy and nice... with tons of grip .... and The porsches awd can transfer power.. and distribute for traction...

every since Audi did the awd deal and stomped them all in the auto cross races they all been going to awd .. and yes it works really good in the rain for corners and on any slick surface
