First of all this car is not desined to run with the blow off valve going to atmosphere(aka the PHISSSSHHHH shound). what that is doing is taking extra boost that the car is expecting and compensating for and just letting it go. It sounds cool but your car is adding extra fuel to the motor expecting the extra boost and will bogg. There is ways around this but you have to know what you are doing and what mods to add. I would have him give you a full list of his mods. to make sure he knew what he was doing. (for example if he does not have a MAFT with a GM mas then he is waisting boost,)

Go to this web site they are very helpfull

Second. What do you want the car for? If you are going to try to make it very fast than you should go with the AWD (all wheel drive) version of the car. But 1800 is not that much for a talon tsi if it is in good shape and runs well. great fun cars.

Third. As for the turbo. Turbos on these cars are cheap. you could get a new one for around 300 and if you do not know how to work on cars then stay as far away from any Talon, eclipse or laser as possible. They just requrie a few little things every once and a while. There are so many aftermarket and used parts for these cars that it makes them a lot of fun to work on. You could get 400hp out of this car without spending $5000 including the price of the car. And that would smoke most anything. 125k is not a lot of miles for the car for sure. They will run forever. I had one that ran to 200k and was still going strong when i sold it.

Last. Get a list of repairs he has made. The clutch is about due to be replaced. Make sure the timing belt and ballance shaft belt have been changed. If not prepaire to change them out if you ger the car.

Ok deal....miles, turbo, 1992, could be expensive to work on if needed. Check out Kelly Blue Book or Autotrader to compare prices.

Not really, a turbo with that many miles is asking for trouble. When the turbo goes out the car will not run correctly.

try checking on the value of the car at kelly blue book.com then decide but that don't sound too bad but i wouldn't buy it without checking the kelly blue book value first
