Can I afford a Mercedes CL or S class?
Finally finishing school, already signed job contract, and just quit my in school job. Will be making about 180k a year plus about 10k in bonuses.
I always wanted an S550 or S63 AMG or my favorite CL550 or CL63 AMG, I've loved the CL since 2008.
I'm looking for a lease , sold cars while i was in school but never dealt with luxury cars.
I know they will be over $1000 a month which is fine but how much more. With some money down could i pull of a CL63 AMG (first option) under $1800?

Understand leasing sold cars for 4 years, looking for someone who has purchased these vehicles or someone who sell them.

It is not about what you can afford. Sounds like you can afford anything want. The question is which fits better in your lifestyle. A CL is a Coupe an S is a Sedan. They are different cars. Are you planning on having kids getting a child seat into an SL? Do you drive around a group every now and again? Do you golf ski, or just ride bike. Is this going to be your everyday car or something just for the weekend and Sunday. I see no point in getting anything above a 550. The 550 is more than fast enough. The AMG is only going to get you a serious speeding ticket.

A car dealer will sell you anything. They don't care - they know where you live and can find the car 24/7. If you can't pay they will come get the car. And it will sell better once you take the hit for the first year depreciation and they will have a better profit margin on the vehicle. They want you to bring it back so they can sell it again.

I went with an E550 - faster than I will ever need to legally go. I dont have kids and not planning on them. Get what you like!

Just out of school? Then there is no way known you should even be allowed behind the wheel of any AMG, maybe a CL may help save your life with your lack of driving experience though!. Stick to a Toyota Corolla or Mazda 3 until you are old enough to have some brains, about 30

If you have a stable job and if you can pay a hefty down then yeah you can probably get your Merc. Can I recommend you something? Why don't you start out with an older Mercedes? Get a early 00' CL55 AMG. They're quick, stylish, luxurious, and extremely sporty.

Pfft it's either i'm jealous or that you are lying. Just out of school and making 180 grand a year. Not even a PHD or doctor makes that much through several years of school. Well even if you do make that much make sure it's a stable job. Everything aside you will easily afford mercedes amg if your salary is true lol...

It depends on all of your other expenses. Add up what you spend on other items, like rent, food, entertainment, credit cards, school loans etc. Then you will know if you have money left over for a car. Keep in mind that an expensive car will also be expensive to insure and maintain, so add those costs too. Worst thing to do is to go into debt for a depreciating asset, like a car.

You can afford whatever car you pay cash for. Nothing sillier than a guy who has his Mercedes repo'd because he lost his job.

You have no stable job history, so don't bet the house on getting anything.
