Pull the oil stick out and wipe it clean...if there is a bluish purple or dark coloring then the engine has been run without oil...DO NOT BUY THE CAR!!!

Check the windshield wipers, tires, ask about the brakes...check windshield seals...run a Carfax report. Slam all the doors...when test driving try to idle the engine a little higher to check for knocks. Check high and low beams.

Always check blue book value...make sure you find out if your state has a lemon law.

Check glove box...sometimes there are receipts there from previous work done!

check the oil and drip it on a towel and if it is "watery" don't even think about buying the car... check the floorboard for any moisture if not rub on the carpet and it it has a lot of fuzz most likely the car has been flooded, carfax report to see if the miles on it are legit.. check EVERYTHING lights, wipers, rev the engine a little bit, test drive of course and ask questions about the car and if the salesman hesitates to answer well he or she is LYING TO U!!
