I checked the Parker's motorcycle price guide and they advise about a grand for a model from the late 90's. ( Link: http://www.parkers.co.uk/motorbikes/used-prices/Valuation.aspx?plate=54&deriv=809 )

I've found a couple on ebay that I really like and they are currently within this price but while trying to work out an overall average price that these bikes go for on ebay its completely unpredictable. So what would you suggest as a good respectable bid for one of these following Virago's on ebay? and if it was you buying it, what would you recommend as an absolute limit to pay?

In order of my preference:

1. 2000 Yamaha 535 virago: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/yamaha-virago-535-year-2000-model-/250848785582?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3a67c0b4ae

2. 1996 Yamaha 535 Virago Cruiser: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-Yamaha-535-Virago-Cruiser-/110710434884?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item19c6db2c44

3. 1993 Yamaha 535 Virago Red Cruiser: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-Virago-XV-535-1993-Red-Cruiser-/220809324832?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item336942e920

I just love these bikes and it'll be good practise for my Harley in the future.

number 3, the red one looks good. I reckon that is worth the asking price, perhaps a couple of hundred more. When I buy something I am going to keep for a few years, the price isn't that important compared to the condition of it, I could spend 200 less then waste more than that on repairs. If I keep a bike 2 years, say 100 weeks, that is just 2 pounds a week, so who cares!

I recently sold a 1996 535 for $2000 (U.S.) It had 26,000 miles. All of these look to be decent. You just need to decide which you like the most and establish a top price you are comfortable paying and bid that amount as a maximum. Good luck.

A good bid is the most you are prepared to pay happily for the bike - bid that and if outbid someone has paid more than you were prepared too - easy!
