I am buying a used car. Does anybody know where I should go to buy one in Pennsylvania. Also, any ideas on what kind of car is good to buy?

Hi candymac1107

You have lot's of good advise already, but I'll give you my opinion as well.

One thing to consider, the quality of the car you buy is utmost important, you should'nt rely soley on what type of car you want, but rather what's the best car.

The quality of any used car is dependent on how well it was maintained and taken care of. Some of the best quality vehicles when new can be turn out to be a piece of junk if the owner or owners abused it.

I've included a few links in the resource box that may offer some more insight, especially one on hidden dealership inspections.

I have driven a lot of cars, both newer models and older ones and I would have to say that my 1990 Chevrolet Corsica has been a pretty good used car. It's not given me a lot of problem at all over the past 2.5 years and it currently has 111500 miles on the odometer. When I purchased the car, it had 93k on the odometer. These cars are great on gas and most of them have a 3.1 V 6 engine under the hood thats got a pretty good kick to it. The 4 cyl Corsicas arent that great and wont last as long as the ones with the bigger engine. The engine size doesnt really matter on insurance, I have the same policy on the Corsica as I had on our 4 cyl 88 Tempo and the price actually went down on the Corsica because it was rated a safer vehicle than the one before it even though the engine has twice the power. I get anywhere from 30-35 MPG on gas with this car. They made Corsicas from 88-96 so the newest one you'd be able to find would be a 96 with a 3100 SFI engine (same as the ones in a Buick Century)

I would also recommend if you want something sportier, try a Beretta or an early 90s Cavalier. Both also have a V6 engine.

Well. If you can afford a used car that costs around $10,000-$13,000, a clean, one to three year old Ford Taurus or Chevrolet Malibu will give you the most bang for the buck- albeit they'll be boring, prosaic appliances that just shuttle you around town.

If you're after some more thrills, try looking for a used Mazda Protege ES with a manual transmission. It won't be as boring as the Malibu or Taurus.

If you are looking for an older vehicle, definitely get a used Honda or Toyota as they will last longer than an older Ford, Chevrolet, or Dodge.

I don't know about where, but I can tell you that my Subaru Impreza is like brand new and I have basically tortured it for the past 13 years.
