i'm a 17 year old girl and my step dad won't let me get a used car because he thinks its not worth the money to get a car with miles on it that "people fart in". before i get a million comments saying i'm a spoiled brat, i do not care what kind of car i get i would take used or anything i get... but he wants me to get new. my reasonable dream car was a jeep liberty and i test drove it the other day and i don't love it as much as i thought. he wants me to get a jeep because we have 2 already and they last long and are relevantly inexpensive. i really don't like the jeep and i want a car with better gas mpg. he thinks that car brands like nissan toyota honda and all japanese brands are bad and they don't last. also most of my friends drive nicer cars so i don't want to be the one with the hyundai if i don't have to be but i'll take whatever. so basically i just need ideas of cars for girls that aren't over $30,000.

think about insurance breaks- get a 4 door sedan with abs brakes and airbags. do your dad a favor and take driver's ed for another break.

Who is paying for it? If he is then you have to honor some of his wishes. The Jeep Compass is nice. Do you like the Jeep Grand Cherokee? I am an owner of one and can tell you they have a lot of nice features. I've been driving mine for 5 years. There is nothing wrong with used cars but new ones can add some nice updated safety and convenience features that may make a difference in the long run. New safety and convenience features can also add up to insurance discounts. Who will be paying for the car's insurance? Also new cars seem to be doing better with gas mileage as this can be a competition for manufacturers. You can check online for a comparison of EPA highway mileage estimates. Have you tried autotrader.com? You can compare vehicle features and gas mileage and plug in the requirementsyou have like cost, features, technical specas like 4wd or awd and v6 or 4cyl engine, etc. Good Luck & Have Fun!

It sounds like you have a large budget to work with. Used cars like a year old with low miles are a very wise choice. They are bairly broken in and you can save a pile of money buying used over new. You might be able to afford a better quality car by buying something a year old. I would recommend test driving a bunch of cars that interest you and picking something that your comfortable in and something that your going to live to be in. Remember it's your car so don't let someone talk you into something you are going to be miserable with. Also, make sure to check out new cars as well because you can come across some great incentives to buy new over used.
