Would you rather a 2004 CTS with 90K miles on it, or a 2009 Ford Taurus with 72k on it?

Although 72K seems like a lot of miles for a 2 year old car I think I'd take the Ford. I'm no fan of the early CTS. They were not built to Cadillac quality standards unlike the new version. Same with the Taurus. The new Taurus is one of the best cars in America but in 2009 this Taurus was stuck in the middle of a difficult transition from the disastrous Ford 500 sedan that replaced the original Taurus and the new body style Taurus that helped bring Ford to the top of the American car market.

All things considered I would more likely buy the Ford even though it's probably not as luxurious or attractive as the Caddy. But it is probably a more economical and reliable car to own.

Cadillacs have always been status symbols and still are. If you require everyone at the country club to see your new car, get the Caddy. Although a base CTS is near fully loaded Fusion price territory, the Ford is an excellent value. At present, Ford is releasing a hybrid version of the Fusion good for 41 mpg city. That is definitely worth looking at. I love Cadillacs, but for the money, I'd buy the Fusion. For those down on American cars...I wish that people would stop saying that Ford means 'fix or repair daily'...that's the oldest joke in the book and has nothing to do with reality. I've owned and sold Fords and all have been reasonable, economical, reliable cars. When people start realizing that they have to do maintenance on a car and not use it like an appliance, maybe then the attitude will change. My apologies for the extraneous rant.

Go with the CTS, wether people say they don't meet the usual Cadillac standards it still surpasses alot of other cars, including the Taurus. The ford taurus is one of the worst cars ever and definitely ford's worst. the V6's are pathetically weak and that coupled with the front wheel drive system makes it a horrible car to drive not to mention how ugly it looks on the outside. The Cadillac on the other hand has a great engine and looks good too. Buy the CTS

I agree with mccoyblues completely. Even though I am a huge fan of GM cars, the early CTS had "issues". When that car crosses the 100k mark it will take another dive in value. The Taurus, if it is not a rental car? I think the odds are better than the caddy?

Taurus. Easily. Or if you can wait for another year of depreciation, get a 2010 taurus. That model is so sexay

Buddy, don't buy cars with over 50k miles on them. Bad choice, they'll die out very soon...
