I am looking into buying a used Mitsubishi Eclipse. My current car is on the fritz after replacing both heads and head gaskets and now I am having a fuel issue its time to kick it to the curb. Its a chevy and the parts have been VERY affordable. I am doing my homework this time before jumping into a car and I am curious to know the price of parts on the eclipse.
I am also considering a BMW, but my husband says the parts are outrageous and labor is too. Is this true.
All input is greatly appreciated, even through out a few options for other cars I should check out also. I have to buy used though. I am a college student with 2 kids and on a 6000 budget. :/

No the parts for the Mitsubishi Eclipse arent expensive. I dont know about the newer ones (2006-now) but if your looking to get a third generation (2000-2005) the parts are generally cheap. ive owned 2 of them so far and i love them both. Im still driving my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT right now. And before that i had the 2000 RS.

If you get one of the 4 cylinder Mitsubishi Eclipse GS's then im pretty sure you'd be satisified. Depending on how well the person before you treated it they can be very dependable cars. They also have something called "Sportronic" thats good if your driving on hills alot or have snowy winters. It allows you to start in 2nd gear and leave the car in a certain gear if your going up and down hills and want to stay in a certain RPM range.

Ive been driving theses cars for about 4 years now. The only complaint i have is that it is a pain to replace the spark plugs on the 6 cylinder models.

Hondas would also be good cars to look at if you want a car with cheap repair costs. Those are some of the easiest cars to fix.

Parts for the Mistus shouldn't be that expensive. It's built in Japan and the parts should be no more than a Honda or Toyota.

I agree with the BMW, very high cost of repairs based mainly on high cost of parts.

If you are on a tight budget and are concerned about high repair costs why don't you just buy a car known for it's reliability. Buy a Honda or a Toyota not a Mitsubishi.
