So I'm buying a used eclipse off of craigslist. The guy has not paid off the car so he's trying to sell it because he's in a tight money spot and he needs to pay the car off. The amount of money he owes is 8700. I'm paying him 8. He is also in hawii right now and will be for 3 years because of military. The car is sitting at his friends house right now. He wants me to pay the 8 in a check and give it to his friend and his friend will give me the keys. Then he will fax a bill of sale with his signature, and mail the original. After he pays off the eclipse he will send me the title. Is this a safe way to buy this car? Is there any way at all of me getting jipped out of my money and the car? And if its not safe is there any alternative safe method to purchase this car?
Thanks!

scam scam scam scam SCAM SCAM HELL YES YOU are going to get screwed, easily, this is not how some guy in the militart would ACT come one use your brain. You do not give some guy you do not know a check for 8 grand, all he has to do is take your money, give the repo guy your address and you have no money, and no car either do not do business with crooks ok? get a clue no title, no money its that simple a bill of sale is completely useless for anything. dont be a fool, and do not buy an eclipse its a crappy car anyway ok?

Not even reading your blog, but once I saw "without the title", you need to quit fooling yourself and PASS.

If Eclipses were good cars and rare, you might think about it, but they're not.

No title = not car owner. That is all that concerns you.

Don't get involved. This "military" gag is used by a ton of scammers. I'm not saying the guy isn't in the military I'm just saying don't get involved in this.
