Me and my brother in law are lookin around for a muscle car to buy and rebuild, Preferably a car in the year range of 60's to early 70's we already have a 66 El Camino, but its our drag car and its not even close to street legal at 10 seconds. so we are just lookin for a car that is a some what reasonable price to buy and work on. any suggestions? our main interests are anywhere from a chevelle, to a camero, to a dodge demon. but any ideas will help. So if you have some info on what they are going for in poor condition to rebuild let me know please thanks for you're time

A fun one might be a 1973 - 1981 Camaro or Firebird that needs TLC, but you can fix it up and install a hotter engine or rebuild the existing one. It's hard to say exactly what to look for though because there's always going to be "diamonds in the rough" somewhere. You might be able to find a driving 1970 Malibu coupe with a good body for 3 grand, but you never know. The key is to have patients when looking for the right collector car. But you'll probably know when you've found "the right one".

A Mopar project would be fun too and unique. Since parts are kind of hard to find for Mopars, I'd try to find one that is almost complete but just needs some cosmetic work. Also look for one with a heavy duty 727 transmission not the 904 because they can handle a lot of power stock. Even 465 horsepower 426 Hemi engines used them. If you like the look of Dodge Demons but are on a budget, try to find a 1973 - 1976 Plymouth Duster or Dodge Dart. Then drop in a 340 or 360 small block and have fun!

Go for a 67 or 68 mustang coupe. A rough project car goes anywhere from 1000 to 3000 dollars. I bought a 67 289 for 1600 3 years ago. Floor pans were rusted up but it was running and needed some body work. I built it into a pretty sharp looking street legal car for a total of about 12,000. They are very common so they are cheaper than some of the more exotic muscle cars, the 289 has plenty of power for the money but a 68 302 would be the way to go if i could do it all over again. Parts are very cheap if you shop around and don't go all original. I got most of my parts from NPD. The catalogs are free so subscride to a few and you'll have all of the parts you need as well as pretty detailed schematics. Try the links. Buying a car like this takes time so look around and you can find what you need.

I would try and find a Chevy Caprice or Impala coupe or convertible. They wouldn't be that difficult to find and reasonably cheap to purchase and easy to get parts for. My second recommendation is a Mustang or Cougar plenty of parts available for these cars and they only go up in value. I would stay away from anything Mopar. Don't get me wrong I like the old Mopar's too, but they are very expensive to purchase and parts are scarce and hard to find.
