I bought a 2000 mustang gt from a used car dealership. They said I had 30 days to get a power train warranty, So i figured I'd get it when i get paid next, so I chose the "as is". 3 days after I bought it there was a bang from the engine, smoke and fluid everywhere. Obviously the car is toast. I'm assuming since I chose the "as is" warranty at the time, I screwed myself over. I was wondering if there are any type of laws for used cars in the state of Arkansas that could help me out?

Thanks

The good news, if any, is if you would have bought the powertrain warranty, it still wouldn't have covered the repair because it was obviously a pre-existing condition. One that probably could have been known by you with a longer test drive.

No service contracts cover pre-existing conditions. Its assumed you were smart enough to make sure the car was ok before buying it. But you were not.

The car is still worth something and may or may not be worth considering a used motor.

Now you know why old muscle cars are rarely good cars.

There's no lemon law that covers a 16 year old used car. As is means exactly that. Buyer beware.

No Lemon Law, anywhere, covers a 16-year old vehicle.

Any state that has Lemon Laws for used vehicles also has the stipulation that the vehicle is still under its original manufacturer's warranty. On a 16-year old vehicle, unless the dealer provided a warranty, it's "as is".

Lemon Laws cover new cars only.

AS IS is the way used cars are sold. Meaning the minute you paid for it all good and bad becomes your problems.

You bought it "as is". It is all yours to do with as you see fit.
