numerous sites with articles on cars like msn or nbc for example always have people complaining about those who buy Japanese or European cars and dont stick with fords or any American cars. some think its anti American and its taking away out jobs or and other political beliefs and others simply think most foreign made cars are crappy. at the same time many people cars Americans cars junk. what does the country a car is made in have to do with its quality? some people are just too in love with a certain company or country.

Funny, my Hyundai has 120K on it, and hasn't been to the shop yet.

I can't particularly fault people for saying "buy american", but it has to be rooted in reality. It's not. European and Asian cars are every bit as good, if not better in many cases, than american cars.

Anyone who blindly says US cars are better than X countries, are really bigots. Not even worth your time to think about their opinions, as they are emotion-based, not fact based.

For some it's brand loyalty, for others it's personal preference.. But there are some idiots that put emotions before facts. I was reading an article about a foreign car a few days ago, it was a Porsche 911 I believe, and some idiot called it a piece of **** mainly because it's foreign made. Then i saw someone gave the Honda Civic a thumbs down because he stated that all imports are ugly looking. And the other day I was reading an article about the new Koenigsegg Agera and someone called it a junk plastic matchbox car and he'd rather own a Mustang. The car wasn't even out yet! Those were the most pathetic comments that I've ever seen in articles. They haven't even stated facts, only opinions. Facts are always more important than country of origin or make

I personally like foreign cars more (specifically German) but i would never call a domestic vehicle junk because of that reason. I would read the reviews and look at the facts before judging it. Honestly, I would rather have a Mini Cooper over a Dodge Challenger because if you read the facts the Mini is better. But if you do look at the facts especially for slightly older models, Foreign cars have better build quality than most domestic vehicles.Just read the reviews!

It's silly old fashioned thinking. These people are brand loyal for no other reason than personal preference.

The american car companies had the market cornered for 75 years, and they got lazy and behind the times in terms of reliabilty and build quality. The european, Japanese and Korean cars would never have sold well and continued to sell well if it was an inferior product. The US car companies have been playing catch up since the early 80's. some have done well, others not so good.

And almost all foreign car manufacturers now make their cars in the US (Toyota,Honda,Mercedes and BMW SUVs) while Ford,Dodge and GM are building cars in Mexico and Canada. so saying one car company is more American than another is kind of silly.

Oh and Kia and Hyundai are rated considerably better than Buick for reliabilty and build quality and have been for a long long time.

Mostly it's because they're loyal to the brand they buy and see it as a pride thing. They only like to say that their car is better and that's the end of it. In reality, they're just basing these theories on emotion rather than facts. The fact is just about any brand of vehicle can be great vehicles whether it's a Kia or a Rolls Royce. All brands of vehicles risk getting lemons and all brands of vehicles are capable of being long lasting.

Other times it's because people fear the unknown. For many people that have never owned foreign cars, they call them junk as they have never tried them before.

Dave87gn just proved my point. To say that Kia and Hyundai's are junk is something that usually states the unknown. Personally, I have seen a Kia Rio at 335,000 miles and the vehicle was STILL running.

One problem is a lot of foreign make cars sold in the US are built in Mexico, where the quality standards are actually lower than American standards. My sister has a VW Jetta built in Mexico, and it is insanely unreliable.

The root of this attitude is that for 50+ years Americans have been told constantly that "American cars are the best in the world," and that idea has become part of the American consciousness. In reality European and Asian standards of quality, safety, and emissions, are much higher than American. In fact the only major car producer with lower standards is China, and they just don't care.

depends for some it's personal experience. other it's a bandwagon thing. all their friends has that brand or their family has always bought that brand. it use to be about the pride in your own produce, but now and days, no one cares about the pride thing anymore.

You seem to be "in love" with texting and avoid using proper English grammar. I think your writing is junk. I refuse to read it. We all have opinions and standards. Apparently your writing standards are almost negligible.
