Our county is doing an auction and sellign a bunch of Crown Victoria's. So, I was wondering if it is good or bad to own an ex-police car?

Like, do they stay in good shape due to constant maintenance, or are they in bad shape from being driven hard?

I've always heard that police cars are "supercharged" and have the best parts inside of them, is that true?

How much would you be willing to pay for a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria with 97k miles on it?

well the crown vic is a very popular car with the Taxi guys in particular because the brakes , front end, and suspension are all heavy duty , which is perfect for todaysd roads. Many people buy them for a grand to 1800 or so depending on mileage and drive them for awhile or resell them or both.

The engine and tranny are good and strong its not a supercharged engine, but it is a solid v8 with good power and with the heavy duty suspension and some good eagle gt plus 4 tires they handle great in the highway.

It all depends on what you want, there are hundreds of thousands of them out there so they are time tested and police approved for durability and long service life.

Nope. do no longer decide for it. i'm actually very much greatly surprised that it nonetheless runs high quality. no longer because of the fact they are poorly made, because of the fact they have been actually equipped to be abused greater effective than generic . Coming from a kin with police, and acquaintances who're police officers, i understand what they do to those issues. They beat the crap out of them. There are holes everywhere from each and all of the equipment being held in place. i'm undecided what different cities regulations are, yet my city i understand gets a clean squad automobile while it reaches approximately one hundred,000 miles, provide or take 10,000 because of the fact they adjust into to costly to restoration. there is not any longer something incorrect with paying for an previous used automobile, yet only hunt around a sprint. in case you desire a Ford, you need to probable %. up an older Taurus for with regard to the comparable value and those are fairly stable (i've got had 2 myself).
