Question:
2000 Audi TT (Need a little help please)?

So I am about to buy my first car, I've been driving whatever car has been available at my house for the last year and now I finally get my own. But anyway, I'm a little like Rick Bobby as in "I wanna go fast"

The car I want to get is a 2000 Audi TT 1.8T 4 cylinder 5 speed manual transmission.

As far as I know nothing to modify it has been done to it. I was just wondering if anybody out there knows what I can do to max it out. If you do could you explain a little and possibly give me a link to a site.

Thanks.

I say never buy an Audi but here are some 2000 TT owner reviews:

If you buy this car used & the timing belt hasn't been changed...do it ASAP. The manufacturer originally recommended changing it after 80K miles, but do not wait that long. Mine broke at 67K miles. And after reading blogs all over the net, I am not alone. It is a costly repair! After a class action lawsuit for the A4, Audi now recommends changing all their cars' timing belts every 3 years or 60K miles.

Slow, looks faster then it really is. A few electrical problems, gas gauge broke 3 times.

If you buy this car negotiate for an extended warranty. A lot of annoying and expensive problems--dash display, replace. Both windows, replace motor parts. Air intake, replace. Battery, replace. Engine malfunction light is on more than my headlights. The unreliability coupled with dealers inability to fix problems is very frustrating. Without warranty coverage, the pain far exceeds the joy.

Hard to get in to and out of the vehicle (although I am 6'4!), no daytime running lights, small glovebox, poor placement of cupholders, little storage for misc. small items, large blind spots out the front and rear windows.

MAINT.&SVC:The dealerships DON'T know how to fix them & Audi doesn't train outside people to work on them. I've had service at 3 dealerships, and only one was able to service it on the 1ST VISIT. MATERIALS&TRIM: While they look good, some materials & construction are poor. In the 5 yrs I've had my car 1) medallion on the drivers' side door handle has fallen off, 2) storage box lid between the front seats doesn't work, 3) trunk cover latch is broken, 4) "chromed" hub caps are peeling, 5) button to adjust the mirrors broke, and 6) both power windows went out.My old Honda had better quality materials and parts! Also, if your city has bad streets, budget for annual tire replacement.

Reliability was really bad. I've got a file 2" thick of repair records. More problems in a year than I had in nine years with my MR2. Replaced axle and transmission. Many more less serious problems. Considered trying to get it declared a lemon. Performance is lackluster. Many other cars are much faster. The paint is soft -- the front gets pitted up really fast. The rear seat really isn't functional. Driving it in the summer time is an exercise in scrapping bugs off the front and windshield -- despite the shape of the car, it really isn't aerodynamic.

I believe this about says it all

A beautiful car, but it was at the dealership way too often. Had to get rid of it when the warranty expired. Would have loved to keep it forever if it had been more dependable.

There is alot that can be done to the 1.great. I like the TT too, but it might not be the best choice for a first car. Anyways, you can bring it to a tune shop and have the ECU "chipped", which will add hp, and torque by way of increasing fuel and air consumption. You can also put in a cold air intake, which will increase hp's in the powerband but will cause it to lag a little in low rpms. You can do an exhaust system, silicon hoses, diverter valve, underdrive pulleys, iridium spark plugs, bigger turbo and intercooler, etc, etc, etc. This stuff ain't cheap though, and neither is the insurance on that car. Good luck.
